Processing
The logic to create the main brush, is a little similar with the painting brush-when draw slowly, the line will be thick and strong, when we use the brush to swipe quickly, the line will be thin. So I measure the distance between mouse position per frame and use this value to build a relation with the strokeWeight of brush. Then I use the resource from the library- control P5, the Accordion, the Button,and the colorwheel. Then I can use these orders to control the color, the volume, the opacity of the brush. In addition I create a ¨clear the canvas¨ button by adding a rectangle to the canvas every time being clicked. the brushes:
The default texture has 4 version, they will show randomly everytime users click the mouse
(ps: textures are also drawed in this sketch pad by me, to keep in the same styling.)
Inspiration
Water lily as a type of water plant with gorgeous flower and rounded leaves that float on the water, always in a bouncy and spirited look. We can always find them in the canvas of Impressionism artists like Monet. However I love them when the water level falls, the stems stands upright in the air, the petals disappears, leaves a dried seedpod hang on the top of stem.
In some ways it has spiritual representation- like a soldier ´s dignity-it ´s true. But as a designer I also find them unbelievably attractive with their visual expression. The rhythm of lines, surfaces, solids. They can look like the painting from Structuralism. The are very good-looking on products like skateboard, and also iphone / ipad cases.
The design purpose is to explore the potential for giving more control to the customers by providing them with an interactive "sketchpad" that will allow customers to easily design complex and attractive designs. With the sketchpad "rhythm", users can easily make their own customized texture in the most visual-designed way!
The Rhythm is an interactive sketchpad which works perfect for designing personalized texture for iPhone and iPad cases & skate boards, but also suitable for apparel. Users will enjoy enormous fun by using it to create their own unique texture.
